![]() ![]() ![]() ġ1 For if that which was but passing and fading away came with splendor, how much more must that which remains and is permanent abide in glory and splendor!ġ2 Since we have such hope (such joyful and confident expectation), we speak very freely and openly and fearlessly.ġ3 Nor like Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze upon the finish of the vanishing. ħ Now if the dispensation of death engraved in letters on stone, was inaugurated with such glory and splendor that the Israelites were not able to look steadily at the face of Moses because of its brilliance, that was to fade and pass away, Ĩ Why should not the dispensation of the Spirit be attended with much greater and more splendid glory?ĩ For if the service that condemns had glory, how infinitely more abounding in splendor and glory must be the service that makes righteous !ġ0 Indeed, in view of this fact, what once had splendor has come to have no splendor at all, because of the overwhelming glory that exceeds and excels it. ![]() It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away.ġ5 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts.ġ6 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.ġ7 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.ġ8 And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.Ĥ Such is the reliance and confidence that we have through Christ toward and with reference to God.ĥ Not that we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God.Ħ Who has qualified us as ministers and dispensers of a new covenant, not of the letter (of legally written code) but of the Spirit for the code kills, but the Spirit makes alive. 4 Such confidence we have through Christ before God.ĥ Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.Ħ He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant – not of the letter but of the Spirit for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.ħ Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was,Ĩ Will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious?ĩ If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness!ġ0 For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory.ġ1 And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!ġ2 Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.ġ3 We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away.ġ4 But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. ![]()
